Feixi County, Anhui Province has a bumper harvest in 2021 spring cocoons. The county raises 21,600 silkworm species in spring, an increase of 13.7% over the same period in 2020; each silkworm species yields an average of 50 kg, which is the same as in the same period in 2020; the average purchase price of fresh cocoons is 50 yuan/kg, an increase of 56% over the same period in 2020; The income of silkworm farmers from sericulture is 54 million yuan, an increase of 82% over the same period in 2020. Sericulture, as one of the characteristic agricultural industries in Feixi County, has gradually formed a characteristic cash crop industry in Hefei that has begun to take shape after more than 40 years of unremitting efforts. It is the only county in Hefei with a sericulture industry.
The policy support has achieved remarkable results. In 2020, the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the High-quality Development of Modern Agriculture in Feixi County" (Feifa [2020] No. 1) document identified the sericulture industry as one of the five dominant industries for the high-quality development of modern agriculture in the county. Up to now, the county has 56,500 mu of mulberry gardens (including 1,200 mu of mulberry gardens for fruit and leaf use), and the area of mulberry gardens ranks second in the province. Mulberry planting and sericulture are mainly distributed in the seven township parks of Mingchuan, Guanting, Shannan, Shishugang, Huagang, Zipeng, and Zipengshan Administrative Committee. The county's mulberry field construction is planned in a unified manner, concentrated and contiguous, with good varieties and regional planting. Silkworm seed supply, cocoon harvesting and drying, silk reeling, etc. are self-contained, and the sericulture technical service network is sound. At present, there are 46 family farms with mulberry gardens of more than 50 acres in the county, including 21 farms with mulberry gardens of more than 100 acres and 8 farms with mulberry gardens of more than 300 acres.
The momentum of large-scale intensification is good. There are two cocoon silk enterprises in the county, namely Hefei Jufeng Silk Co., Ltd. in Fengle Town and Mingchuan Silk Factory in Feixi County in Mingchuan Township. They produce 600 tons of silk per year and 6000 silk quilts per year. The annual output value is 210 million yuan. There are 11 sericulture cooperatives and 46 sericulture family farms in the county.
In recent years, in accordance with the concept of "one county, one industry (special)" and the entire industry chain, the county has selected silkworm, mulberry, cocoon and silk as the dominant industry with good basic conditions, long industry chain, and good market development prospects, with key support and efforts to expand Sericulture breeding base.
